Context

Overfishing, habitat destruction, pollution and climate change are endangering marine ecosystems in the Bahamas.

There is a need to raise local awareness of marine conservation and the protection of coral reefs in the Bahamas through education.

Actions

Through a simple, seven-step process, Eco-Schools empowers children and youth to take action for the environment by engaging them in fun, action-oriented learning and community outreach. Eco-Schools are awarded the prestigious Green Flag, an internationally recognized symbol of excellence in environmental education and practice.

This program helps students and teachers expand their knowledge of their surrounding marine habitats through life-changing experiences.
